Here at Essex County Council, we're looking at things differently. By 2020, we aim to be both self-funded and self-sufficient, standing on our own two feet financially. We need to think differently and be more creative about how we use resources to solve the problems of tomorrow.

To ensure that happens, we need people in place who are excited by challenges and inspired by our vision. Our organisation development and people function are united in their approach to deliver this change agenda - with the People Plan at the heart of our delivery commitments. Passionate about people, we are looking for innovators, great leadership role models and trusted advisors who can make a real difference.

As part of the People Business Partnering and Employment Practice team, you'll play a key role in building our capability and contributing directly to achieve our transformation. You'll be joining at a really exciting time supporting the delivery of our People Plan across a diverse range of areas. As an effective consultant, you will work closely with Business Partners on organisational change projects, managing complex employment cases and the implementation of People Plan initiatives. You'll also coach leaders and managers across a wide range of people solutions including organisation design and change, redundancy and TUPE, to develop their skill sets and increase their confidence in managing others.

Qualified at MCIPD level or working towards this, you'll be able to demonstrate commitment to your own professional development. You'll be an excellent communicator with a track record of building strong and influential relationships with stakeholders. Able to identify opportunities for improvement and experience of planning and delivering successful change programmes, you'll be able to identify risks and know how to mitigate them. A broad understanding of employee relations and how to design and develop people activities to improve organisational performance is also essential.

We offer a competitive benefits package which includes 26 days annual leave, a local government pension scheme and access to retail discounts. For more information about our benefits, please visit the beneifts page on the Working for Essex website.

Qualification certificates should be brought to interview.

As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate. This is an annual subscription and you will be responsible for ensuring this is maintained. For further information on the DBS update service please go to the (url removed) website.
