Bring your in-depth knowledge of HR management and practice to the UK's largest children's charity. Design and deliver key strategic People projects that have a positive impact right across the organisation. Help us ensure that children and young people enjoy brighter, happier futures.

At Barnardo's, we believe in children. Our purpose is to transform the lives of the UK's most vulnerable children and our vision is to realise Thomas Barnardo's dream of a world where no child is turned away from the help that they need. Our people - be they staff or volunteers - are key to making that happen, which is why this wide-ranging and influential role is vital to our future development. In other words, your work will be pivotal in helping us ensure that we can be there for even more children who need us.

As well as leading our People Strategy & Advice team to provide policy and guidance to colleagues across Barnardo's, you'll manage the development of employee relations, pay and reward and EDI in employment strategy and policy. What's more, we need you to oversee all aspects of our relationship with UNISON (including negotiations), identify new People initiatives and projects, provide specialist advice and collaborate with colleagues on the development of wider policies and processes.

Ideally CIPD qualified, you should bring significant experience of developing and delivering a wide range of HR projects and polices. A thorough knowledge of employment law, equality, diversity and inclusion and pay and reward practices is also important, combined with a track record of working successfully with a recognised trade union in a multisite environment. In addition, we'll be looking for an excellent understanding of TUPE processes, strong leadership skills and the ability to produce papers and presentations for consideration at board level.
